2010 Buick Allure Preview
by Justin Pritchard , Auto123.com
It might be a tad too early to make assumptions, but it looks like the next-generation Allure isn't exactly going to be your fathers Buick. Photos and info of the revised model are now on GM's American media site- though it's called the 'LaCrosse' south of the border. Looks like Buick's entry-level car has become meaner, more sculpted, less geriatric and even, dare we say, exciting to look at.

It looks like the next-generation Allure is going to be a big leap forward in terms of performance and technology.

The Buick grille still caps the front, but a set of projector-equipped headlamp housings now flank it. Plenty of chrome accents are applied to the body, which itself is adorned with a unique, sweeping character sweeping its entire side.

The whole thing is a bit more European-inspired to look at, and the rear terminates with a tall trunk lid, chrome emblem and large, prominent taillamps. You won't miss the polished dual-outlet integrated exhaust tips, either.

All in all, the sleekness and musculature that designers have added to the 2010 Allure should help it battle other high-end American sedans like the Ford Taurus when it comes to market later this year.

Interior shots show a flowing, wrap-around cockpit layout with a dashboard layout leaps away from the occupants to maximize the feeling of interior volume. A centralized control console reminiscent of that in the Cadillac CTS takes centre stage, surrounded by wood and metallic trim pieces.

"The new LaCrosse is intended to represent modern elegance," said Ed Welburn, GM's president of Global Design. "Throughout the design, you experience a balance of contrasts. Both the interior and exterior have been designed with harmony in mind. The exterior balances taut, sculpted lines with sensuous accents and surfaces. Inside, smoked chrome accents, warm wood, first-class leather and materials combine with cool blue ambient lighting to create an inviting environment. It's instantly recognizable as a Buick, with its signature 'sweep spear' body-side styling, portholes inside the character line on the hood, and waterfall grille".
